Legal
Privacy policy
This policy describes data processing on the DinoX website.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing is the operator listed in the imprint.
2. Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted on infrastructure operated for the DinoX project. Technical connection data may be processed in server logs, including IP address, date and time, requested URL and user agent. These logs serve website delivery and security.
Legal basis under the GDPR: Article 6(1)(f), legitimate interests in secure operation.
3. No analytics or advertising trackers
This website does not use analytics tracking, advertising pixels, external translation services or externally hosted fonts. Scripts, images and media used for page rendering are provided with the website.
4. Browser preferences
The website uses JavaScript for navigation, search, filters, media controls and language and appearance selection. Language, light or dark appearance, and media language are stored in the browser’s local storage (localStorage). They restore your preferences and are not sent as tracking identifiers.
These entries remain until you clear the website’s data in your browser. Language and appearance may also appear in the page URL and are transmitted when you open that link. The website’s own scripts do not set cookies.
5. Public community chat
The chat on this website uses a locally hosted copy of Converse.js. Your browser connects to the DinoX chat server only when you choose “Join the group”. No account is required. The server creates a temporary guest identifier and processes your IP address and connection data to run the service and prevent abuse.
Your display name and group messages are visible to other participants. Messages are stored in the group archive on the server. The connection to the server is encrypted; the public group is not end-to-end encrypted. Please do not post confidential information.
Converse.js temporarily stores guest state and loaded messages in your browser’s sessionStorage. This chat storage is cleared when you choose “Leave the group” or close the tab. Links in messages may lead to other websites. Moderators can grant or revoke permission to write and remove participants from the group.
6. Providers, downloads and external links
The home page requests public provider and release information through the website service, which updates it from the DinoX provider directory and Forgejo. The browser sends no login credentials with these requests. The local file preview uses the local preview service for this purpose.
Package and checksum links go directly to git.dinox.im. Provider, source code and standards links lead to their respective websites. When you open these destinations, the respective operator receives connection data and processes it under its own responsibility.
7. Contact
When you contact us, for example by email or XMPP, we process the information you provide to respond to your request.
Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where applicable and/or Article 6(1)(f), legitimate interests in handling enquiries.
8. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, in particular the GDPR, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
9. Changes
We may update this policy when the website or its processing activities change.
